How it works
These water cycle comic strip ideas each give a cast and one labeled beat per stage, in order. The strips in A drop as the hero also work as water cycle story ideas.

The four stages these strips use
Evaporation: the sun's heat turns liquid water into vapor, which rises. Condensation: higher up, the vapor cools into the droplets that make a cloud. Precipitation: the droplets grow and fall as rain, snow or hail. Collection is the word used here for water gathering again in rivers, lakes, the ground and the sea. The US Geological Survey names more steps, such as runoff and infiltration, so follow your class's list.
For a story project
For water cycle story project ideas, choose A drop as the hero. Give the drop a name and something it wants, then turn each beat into a paragraph or a page.
- Draw the sun in the evaporation panel. Its heat is what lifts the water.
- Keep the drop one color in every panel, so a reader can follow it round.
- Let the last panel lead back to the first. The cycle has no last stage.
Questions and answers
How do you make a comic strip about the water cycle?
Pick a cast, such as a drop named Dot. Draw one panel for each of the four stages, in order, and label each panel with its stage.
What are some water cycle story ideas?
A salty drop leaves the ocean as fresh water. A snowflake takes the slow road down a mountain. Two drops fall from one cloud, and one goes by river while the other soaks underground and arrives much later.
What is a funny water cycle comic idea?
A drop who is afraid of heights, a puddle that puts up missing posters for its water, or the four stages arguing about who goes first when the cycle is a circle.
