Finish the Drawing Worksheets

Press New sheet for four unfinished pictures to a page, then print it.

Sheet 3V8WOP. 4 starters of 4 kinds, drawn for ages 4 to 7. One page on paper.

Every sheet is new: the same kinds of start, drawn another way. The preview scrolls; on paper every page is fitted to US Letter or A4, in black and white.

A start is drawn again for every sheet: the butterfly gets other wings, the squiggle another path. Half drawings stand on a dashed fold line in the middle of their box, with the other half of the box left empty; open starts have no right answer at all. Sheets for ages 4 to 7 are drawn with a thick line and fewer details.

StartWhat is on the page
ButterflyHalf a butterfly on a fold line. The other wing has to match: size, height and pattern.
LeafHalf a leaf with its veins. The veins leave the midrib in pairs, which is what to look for.
VaseHalf a vase. A curve that swings out has to swing out as far on the other side.
FaceHalf a face: one eye, half a nose, half a mouth. The classic test of measuring by eye.
TreeHalf a tree, round or pointed. Branches and layers give heights to match.
RocketHalf a rocket: straight lines, one fin, portholes on the fold.
SquiggleOne loose line. Turn the page until it looks like something, then make it that.
Three shapesThree plain shapes sitting near each other. They become one picture: a face, a machine, a creature.
HorizonA horizon with a sun, a road or a sea. Everything else is up to the artist.
Empty frameAn empty frame with a written idea under it, for the ones who like a blank page.

Every sheet has a short code, printed at the foot of each page, so loose pages can be matched again. A share link brings the same sheet back, line for line. Every drawing is made by this page from plain lines and shapes: no clip art, nothing to license.

How it works

This finish the picture worksheet prints four starters to a page, new on every press. Half a butterfly, vase or rocket asks children to complete the picture; a squiggle, three shapes, a horizon or a frame can become anything.

Halves and open starters

The six halves (butterfly, leaf, vase, face, tree and rocket) sit on a fold line and have one right answer: the mirror image. The four open starters have none, so no two children finish them the same way.

Set the sheet for the class

Choose one, four or six starters to a page. Ages 4 to 7 get bolder lines and simpler halves. Switch off the written prompts for children who do not read yet.

Questions and answers

Is there a draw the other half worksheet?

Yes. Switch off the squiggle, shapes, horizon and frame, and every box holds half a picture on a fold line. Children draw the missing side as a mirror image.

Can I get a finish the drawing PDF?

Yes. Press Print and choose Save as PDF in your browser's print window. Each press of New sheet draws new starters, so you can save several different sheets.

Can the class all get the same sheet?

Yes. Share link opens this exact sheet, starters and settings included, so a second class or a child at home can print the same page next week.
