How this list was compiled: Own work, written for Draw This Next on 2026-10-16: palettes of five colors taken from the things in a casino room, in four kinds (felt and chips, a neon sign, card faces, velvet and brass). Every palette, name, color word, hex code and part is our own choice; nothing is sampled from a photograph, a film or a real building, no casino, hotel, city, brand or card maker is named, and nothing here is about betting, odds or how any game is played. How a strip is ordered: each color is named for its part of one small scene; a Felt and chips strip starts with the table felt, a Neon sign strip with the night behind the sign, a Card faces strip with the card paper, a Velvet and brass strip with the cloth and then its metal. Our own tests, not a standard: the felt is a deep cloth color (an HSL lightness of 40 percent or less at a saturation of 40 or more) and three or more of the other four colors stand 30 or more from it in CIE Lab; the night is the darkest color of its strip (a lightness of 12 percent or less) and three or more of the others are lights (a saturation of 85 percent or more) that contrast with it by 4.5 to 1 or more (WCAG contrast ratio, the formula at https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/contrast-minimum.html); the card paper is a white, an ivory or a cream (a lightness of 84 or more) and the second color contrasts with it by 4.5 to 1 or more; the cloth is deep (a lightness of 36 or less at a saturation of 38 or more), brass or gold comes second and contrasts with it by 3 to 1 or more. The one outside fact in the page copy, checked on 2026-10-16 against English Wikipedia (text under CC BY-SA 4.0): Baize, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baize (a coarse woollen or cotton cloth, similar in texture to felt; used on billiard tables and on gaming tables for casino games; for gaming use traditionally dyed green, in mimicry of a lawn, though a wide variety of table colours have become accepted). Color names are plain English words with no paint maker, pencil brand or color-matching system, and one word is one code everywhere on this list. Checked on 2026-10-16: every code is #RRGGBB, each color word fits the hue and lightness of its code, no palette, name or line repeats, no two palettes share four codes, no two colors of a palette are closer than 8 in CIE Lab, and no palette is on another palette list of this site or of its sister sites. The hex codes are for a screen; with paint, pencils or markers, take the nearest color. Licence: own work
How it works
A casino color palette comes from the room: green felt under chips, a neon sign against the night, the red and black of card faces, velvet rope on a brass post. Each color is named for its part.

Four corners of the room
Felt and chips starts with the cloth, then what sits on it. Neon sign starts with the night and adds three lights or more. Card faces starts with the paper: Fanned hand is white cards, black spades, red hearts, navy backs and a gold ring. Velvet and brass puts a deep cloth first and its metal second.
For a poster or a still life
For a game-night poster, take a Neon sign strip: the dark color is the background and the lights are the lettering. For a still life, take Felt and chips and let the felt cover most of the page. For cards to draw, see playing card drawing ideas.
Questions and answers
What colors are in a casino color palette?
On this list: baize green #196B42 for the felt, red #BF1825 and black #131316 for cards and chips, gold #EDB91D and brass for the metal, burgundy and crimson for velvet, and neon pink, aqua and yellow for the signs.
Why is casino felt green?
The cloth on gaming tables is baize, a coarse woollen or cotton cloth much like felt. For gaming it is traditionally dyed green, in mimicry of a lawn, though many table colors are now accepted. Chip rack here sits on royal blue.
What colors go with gold in a casino palette?
Deep ones. Showroom curtain hangs gold fringe on royal purple with plum folds; Carpet swirl runs a gold swirl over burgundy with teal and navy. On a card face gold sits between black and red, as in King's crown.
