How this list was compiled: Own work, written for Draw This Next on 2026-10-01: palettes for one character each, five or six colors in the order they are worn, top of the strip first (skin, fur or shell; hair or headgear; the clothing; an accent; on some figures a sixth, for eyes, metal or one more small thing). Every palette, color name, hex code and line is our own. A character here is a kind of figure (a knight, a baker, a robot), made up for this list; none is named after or copied from a character of a show, a film, a game, a comic or a book. Human skin runs from ivory to umber, and every group that has people in it has both light and deep skin. Color names are plain English words: no paint maker, pencil brand or color-matching system is named. One name is one code everywhere on the list. Which part covers most of the figure is our suggestion for a standing figure. Checked on 2026-10-01: every code is #RRGGBB, no palette and no name repeats, no two palettes share four codes, no two colors of one palette are closer than 12 in CIE Lab, each color word fits the hue and lightness of its code, and no palette is on another palette list of this site or of its sister sites. Questions and answers

How many colors should a character color palette have?

These have five or six: skin, hair, two clothing colors and an accent, with a sixth small color on some figures. That is our choice for this list, not a rule.

Can I use one as an OC color palette?

Yes. Each palette is for a kind of figure, not a named one, so it suits an original character. Swap any color for your own and keep the order; the line under the name still says which part is which.

Do these character colour palettes copy characters from shows or games?

No. Every palette was made up for this list around a kind of character, such as a lifeboat captain or a garden robot. None is named after or copied from a character of a show, a film, a game or a comic.

How do I use the hex codes?

Type or paste a code into the color picker of a drawing app to get that swatch. After a press, Copy takes the name and all the codes together. With pencils or paint, take the nearest color.
