Pick the feature first
Every One eye monster is built around a single white eye, such as One-eyed blob with three hairs standing straight up. Lots of eyes runs from Three eyes stacked in a column up a tall stone to Purple stone covered edge to edge in swab-dot eyes.
Lumps, bumps and corners
An odd stone is a head start. Every lump stays on Lumpy stone monster with its eye on the biggest bump. Bumps turn into horns on Two-bump stone monster, a horn painted on each bump. A blocky stone suits Square stone monster with an eye in every corner.
