How this list was compiled: Own work, written for Draw This Next on 2026-10-13: palettes of five colors for a picture in the weirdcore look, in four kinds (washed-out daylight, over-bright primaries, empty-room pastels, screen glare). Every palette, name, color word, hex code and part is our own choice; nothing is sampled from a photograph, an image post, a video or a game, and no game, video, series or character is named. Kept gentle by rule: every scene is an empty or ordinary place or thing, with no eye, mouth or figure, no threat and no caption wording. What weirdcore is, checked on 2026-10-13 against English Wikipedia, Weirdcore, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weirdcore (text under CC BY-SA 4.0): an Internet aesthetic that caught on in the early 2020s, built on liminal spaces, poor-quality photos, surreal messages, nostalgia and psychological unease; its pictures often have red text that looks out of place, and black rectangular shapes that often hold such text; its settings are places that may be familiar from childhood, like playgrounds, classrooms and malls, usually empty; its visuals are influenced by the look of images shared on an older internet. The article names no palette: which colors stand for the look, and the four kinds, are our own reading. How a strip is ordered: each color is named for its part; a Washed-out daylight strip starts with a white or pale color, most often its sky or its glare, and a Screen glare strip with its dark; the name carries two of the colors. Our own tests, not a standard: a Washed-out daylight strip starts at an HSL lightness of 85 percent or more and holds nothing darker than 45 percent and nothing over 56 percent saturation; an Over-bright primaries strip holds three or more colors at full strength (a saturation of 90 percent or more at a lightness from 40 to 70 percent) with black or white; an Empty-room pastels strip holds three or more colors at a lightness of 70 percent or more, exactly one dark at 22 percent or less, and nothing at full strength; a Screen glare strip starts at a lightness of 20 percent or less, holds a white or pale color that contrasts with that dark by 10 to 1 or more (the WCAG contrast ratio formula, https://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/Understanding/contrast-minimum.html, used as our own threshold), and one or more colors at full strength; no two colors of a palette are closer than 8 in CIE Lab. Color names are plain English words with no paint maker, pencil brand or color-matching system, and one word is one code everywhere on this list. Checked on 2026-10-13: every code is #RRGGBB, each color word fits the hue and lightness of its code, no palette, name or line repeats, no two palettes share four codes, and no palette is on another palette list of this site or of its sister sites. The hex codes are for a screen; with paint, pencils or markers, take the nearest color. Licence: own work

How it works

Weirdcore is an internet aesthetic of liminal spaces, low-quality photos and nostalgia. Each weirdcore color palette here is five colors for one empty, familiar place: a playground at noon, a pastel hallway, a screen in a dark room.

Four kinds of weirdcore palette

Washed-out daylight starts with white or a pale color and holds nothing dark, like an overexposed photo. Over-bright primaries puts three or more colors at full strength beside black or white. Empty-room pastels has three or more pastels and exactly one dark: a doorway, a drain, a window at night. Screen glare starts with a dark, then a white glare and a screen color.

Keep it flat

Fill each shape with one flat color and leave the shading out. In Door on a hill the sky is pale blue #C8DFEF, the door white and the hill a faded green #68B168.

Questions and answers

What colors are weirdcore?

There is no fixed set. This list leans on white #F6F8F9 and washed-out pale blue, primaries such as blue #0A2BFF and yellow #FFEF0A at full strength, room pastels such as pale pink #F1D0D8, and screen white on black. The four kinds are our own reading.

What color is weirdcore text?

Often red. Weirdcore pictures often have red text that looks out of place, and black rectangles that hold it. Caption box here is red #FF0008 lettering on a black #0B0B0E box, with a yellow arrow and an azure sky.

What is the difference between weirdcore and kidcore colors?

The kidcore list on this site is crayons, toys and rainbows. This one uses some of the same primaries but sets them in empty places, beside washed-out or dark colors. For the toy-box version, see the kidcore color palette.

Is weirdcore scary?

It is meant to feel a little uneasy: psychological discomfort is part of the look, beside nostalgia. These palettes stay gentle. Every scene is an ordinary place with nobody in it, such as a school field or a laundry room.
