How it works
These comic ideas are for OCs you already have: short situations to put them in, each three to six panels. They are sorted by kind of scene: a day in their life, two characters meeting, a small problem, another world.

Pick the scene that shows who they are
A small problem shows character faster than a big plot. How your OC deals with a stuck window tells a reader who they are. A day in their life needs no second character. Another world moves the same character somewhere new, so what stays the same about them is the point.
Story ideas for OCs, one beat a panel
Each premise lists its beats in order, one for every panel. Cross out any beat your character would never do and write what they would do instead. That swapped beat is usually the best panel.
- Draw the last panel first. If the ending does not sound like your OC, change the beats before it.
- Simplify the outfit before you start. Six panels means drawing every buckle six times.
Questions and answers
What are good story ideas for OCs?
Small ones: a lost keepsake, a first meeting, a day off. Every premise here has a start, a turn and an end, so it also works written out as a short scene.
How do I make a comic about my OC?
Start with three or four panels. Sketch the beats as stick figures, give the last panel the most room, and letter the balloons before you draw the figures. A finished strip tells you more about your character than an unfinished first chapter.
What does OC mean?
Original character: a character an artist or writer made up, not one taken from an existing work.
Can I use these comic ideas with a friend's OC?
Yes, if the friend agrees. The Two characters meet group suits it: each of you draws the same premise with both characters, then you compare the last panels.
