    • black smoke cat Each hair is silvery white at the base and black at the tip. The pale shows where the fur parts.
    • blue cat Blue is the cat word for an even gray, a diluted black. Keep it cool and flat.
Show all 51 coats (48 more)

    Solid and smoke, continued

    How it works

Each result is an original cat character on four legs: a seal point, long-haired with a ruff like a collar, that lives on a canal boat and inspects every lock. Coat patterns and eye colors go by their real names.

    Six parts, each lockable

Coat, fur and build, eyes, one mark, temper and home change separately. Keep the brindled tortoiseshell, press until the temper suits it, and let the mark be the thing that tells this cat from every other.

Coat patterns under their real names

The coat list under the tool says what each pattern looks like. A classic tabby has thick whorls and a bullseye on each side. A mackerel tabby has thin stripes like fishbones. A van-patterned cat is white with color only around the ears and on the tail.

    • Every red cat is a tabby, so give an orange coat at least faint stripes.
    • Blue means an even gray, and a dilute calico is white with gray and cream.
    • A real mink cat has blue-green eyes and a sepia cat amber-yellow to green. Lock the coat and press until they match.

    Questions and answers

What does the cat OC generator give me?

An original cat character in six parts: a coat color or pattern, fur and build, eye color, one mark, a temper, and where the cat lives. It is text to draw or write from. No name is dealt and no picture is made.

Is the cat from a book, a show or a game?

No. Nothing here comes from one. The cat walks on four legs, wears no clothes and lives somewhere ordinary or odd, such as a lighthouse or a bakery's back room. Every list was written for this page.

Are the coat colors and patterns real?

Yes. Every coat is a real color or pattern under the name cat breeders use, such as mackerel tabby, tortoiseshell, calico, tuxedo, seal point and black smoke. Each was checked against Wikipedia's articles on cat coat genetics, tabby cats and bicolor cats.

Which cat eye colors are on the list?

Blue, blue-green, green, yellow, amber and brown, plus odd eyes, where one eye is blue and the other is not. A cat's pupil is a slit in bright light and widens to cover most of the eye in dim light.

Does it give my cat OC a name?

No. This page deals looks, a temper and a home and leaves the name to you. The mark and the place it lives are both written to be things a name could come from.
